Paper Three: Use of English
Part 1

1) Read through the whole text to get the general meaning.
2) Remember! Your instinct could be correct.
3) Always make your own answer and then compare with the multiple-choice answers.

Part 2
1) Read through the whole text to get the general meaning.
2) Underline the key words.
3) Try to put logical answers which have correct grammar.

Part 3
1) Don’t change the word given.
2) Remember to write only between 2 and 5 words.
3) Before the exam, try to practise this part as much as you can.

Part 4
1) Understand the general meaning.
2) Be careful with using passive verbs: some of them may in fact need to be active.
3) With each line make sure you check the line before and the line after and only then look
for any extra word(s) which may be wrong.

Part 5
1) Make sure what part of speech is needed for each space and then decide whether each space needs a positive or negative meaning.
2) Trust your instinct.

Paper Four: Listening
Part 1
1) It is not necessary to read the questions in this first part as these are given on the cassette.
2) Think about the attitude of the speakers in each extract you hear.
Part 2
1) Read the questions.
2) Underline the key-words in the questions.
3) Try to guess what kind of information you need to put into the boxes.
4) Be careful to connect the answers grammatically with the words already given on the page.
Part 3
Try to imagine and guess three key-words which could be relevant to the information given on the question page and listen for these.
Part 4
1) First of all do the same as for Part 3.
2) Try to tick as many answers as you can the first time you listen.
3) When you listen the second time, check your answers.
