How does the scoring work on the quizzes in Exam Success Plus?
The score for each question is based on the number of tries taken to get a correct answer. Once a correct answer is chosen, the scoring is "frozen", but the student can still click on buttons to see the feedback for other answers without penalty.
For example, if you hit a wrong answer once, then a right answer, you have one wrong try. Once you get the correct answer for any given question, a score for that question is calculated and stored; that score is based on the number of wrong tries before the correct answer was chosen. The score overall is calculated by totaling the scores for all the questions that have been answered so far, and turning the result into a percentage.
Once you get a question right, no more tries are recorded for that question, and therefore no "marks" appear when you click on an answer. Some quizzes offer you the chance to have a ‘hint’. Percentage points are also deducted when you have requested a ‘hint’ for a question.
All this means that if you get all the right answers correct first time (without using the ‘hint’ button if this is available) your score will be higher than if you make some mistakes before selecting the correct answer. Remember you can try the quizzes as many times as you wish so keep a record of your scores and see if you can improve on your results over time.
