Phrasal Verbs
I
had my last class today and my students were really tired and looking
forward to doing papers 1,2,3. (They'd already had papers 4 and 5 and
are finishing the exam tomorrow) I considered they'd had enough practice
so why not revising phrasals in a funny way?
I asked them to write ten phrasals in separate slips of paper, mixed them
and divided the class in two groups. Then, in turns, a member of each
group took a slip of paper from a bag, read the phrasal and gave me the
definition plus an example. If both were correct, the student was awarded
4 points. After everybody had done this, I made them work in pairs. I
gave each pair a fistful of slips (yes! not an exact number) and asked
them to write a composition (short story, letter, etc) using at least
7 phrasals. The result was amazing! Their writing was so creative!
I hope you find this idea useful.
